Get to know me

Hi my name is Rosa Stevens. I have worked as a Counsellor for a local Counselling Organisation and Private Practice for several years, providing secondary care and a vitally needed counselling service for adults and youth who might otherwise be excluded because of finance or shortfall in service provision. To date, I have played a crucial role in improving the health and well-being of several clients between the age of 14 to 83 years. I specialise in working with anxiety, depression, past and current trauma, bereavement, anger management and low self-esteem.

I am an Accredited member of NCS and a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapist and coaching division.

I am a counselling supervisor this means that I monitor other counsellors to hold clients in a safe space within their ethical frame work and help with continuing professional development and competencies by using the 7 eyed model.

I am also a counselling lecturer which enables me to stay up to date with educational demands and provide additional knowledge and experience in supporting counselling students to achieve their professional goals.

During my professional journey, I have developed several therapeutic skills and focused in building experience in safeguarding adults at risk and children, alongside my experience of Suicidology  and crisis response I can hold clients and Supervisee's in a safe environment where risk assessment is key.

My life coaching CPCAB qualification has led me to the interesting world of Life Coaching.  I have tailored life coaching to accommodate the current cultural demand.  I appreciate how powerful positive psychology can be however, I believe that it must be used wisely during the therapeutic journey as otherwise it can create further discrepancies in your sense of self, by triggering further anxiety therefore, my counselling skills help me support my life coaching clients in removing any blockage that is preventing them from achieving their desired goals.

  • Do you provide face to face and online sessions?
Yes you can specify if you would like to attend face to face or online. Once you complete the booking a confirmation will be sent with the address.
  • You are currently counselling my friend, family or partner can I also book counselling with you?
I am afraid I cannot see any clients who have a close partner, relative or friend still working with me as this may cause a conflict of interest, please see below what a conflict of interest would do. A conflict of interest is when your therapist has a relationship or personal situation that could affect their professional judgement or expertise when offering you treatment. For example, they may realize they are friends with your family or your partner, which means they cannot be objective when you discuss these people during therapy. If a therapist realizes they have a conflict of interest during your consultation or intake they should refer you to another professional who can be neutral. This allows them to maintain objectivity and protect the privacy of all people involved. The therapist may be unable to disclose their conflict of interest to protect a client or a family’s confidentiality. They are bound by law and ethics to protect their clients’ confidentiality. As such, you may not know exactly why the therapist has refused to treat you.
  • I am running late for my appointment what do I do?
It is expected that the session will begin at the agreed time. Any session that begins after this time due to late client arrival for whatever reason cannot be extended beyond the agreed finish time. If you do not arrive or call within 15 minutes of the agreed appointment, this will be considered a cancellation, full fee will be applied and the therapist will not be available for the remainder of the session.
  • Can I still seek therapy with you even though we have friends, family members in common?
No, this would be a conflict of interest. Please see below. Conflicts of interest A conflict of interest is when your therapist has a relationship or personal situation that could affect their professional judgement or expertise when offering you treatment. If you feel that you will not be able to afford weekly therapy, you can decide to have therapy fortnightly, you are in control of your own journey.
  • How do I know that my therapist/life-coach is working Ethically.
Please assure that your therapist is a member of a professional membership. I am a member of BACP and an Accredited member of NCPS therefore, I follow their ethical framework. BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions NCPS-Code-of-Ethics-Nov-23.pdf (nationalcounsellingsociety.org)
